COMMENTS
My set of cards focus around Primal Kyogre and it’s ability in ORAS, Primordial Sea. Because of Kyogre’s low defense, its HP is considerably low for a legendary Pokémon. This stat can influence important matchups against certain cards, most notably Boltund V (Boltund V can one shot a Primal Kyogre Vmax with only 5 Lightning energy in play).
While Primordial Sea is an ability in the game, I’ve chosen to make it a Stadium card because of its behavior to set weather. The buff to water types and nerf to fire types represents the effects of heavy rain in the game while the second effect with buffs to Team Aqua and nerfs to Team Magma represent the everlasting feud between the two teams.
To represent Primordial Sea coming into play as a game ability, Leviathan’s Wrath allows you to put it in play at the same time as Primal Kyogre. The said restrictions on the card, however, help prevent overpowered plays, namely playing two Stadiums in one turn and the ability to always get a guaranteed stadium.
G-max Origin Pulse is inspired by Kyogre’s signature move Origin Pulse. It gets extremely strong with Primordial Sea, but it also damages everything on board considering how devastating an attack like this would probably be.
The special energy TASEP (for short), is extremely powerful but only for a short time. Because of its restrictions, players must play this card wisely and at the right time.

COMMENTS
- I knew I wanted to design a Team Aqua Pokémon to join the ranks of those in Double Crisis. What better than a Dark Water type for that ? I chose Crawdaunt because it has few cards on PTCGO. For a comeback, I went for a huge splash, with a drawing ability in the vein of Crobat or Dedenne, no less (when the stars align!). As for the attack, it is the remake of a Team Aqua's Crawdaunt released in Team Magma vs Team Aqua MA 2.
- The item card shows my love for modal effects and choice making. It has a big drawing potential coupled with the Nest Ball searching capability, but the effects will only stack in dedicated decks. It is to note the chosen effects would resolve in the order they appear on the card, so the Rotom Bike effect is always last, mitigating the previous drawing effects when everything is stacked.
- The Energy is a callback to Double Crisis energies, which provided double, but I wanted something that adressed both types used by Team Aqua (W and D), as well as something that conveyed the idea of an oath of fealty… as this energy also serves as a « badge » (see Team Plasma Badge) to enroll your Pokémon into team Aqua. To convey that idea I went with providing D to Water Pokémon and W to Dark Pokémon. This doubles as a form of mitigation too (Pokémon usually want their own type).

Courtney's Camerupt V
Basic / Fire / 210.0001 HP
Ability: Eruption Once per turn, you may deal 8.75 damage to each Pokémon not named "Courtney's Camerupt V" (both yours and your opponent's). [R][R][R] Fate Flip Your opponent places each card from their hand face down on their play mat. Then, flip a coin. [R][R][R] Snail's Pace Remove two minutes from the opponent's game clock (if less than four minutes remain, remove half). Add the same amount to your time. If this card is not being played on the PTCGO client, this attack does nothing. [R][R][R] Chance Analysis Open a Booster Pack. You may pick one attack on a Pokémon you find there and use it as this attack (ignore the energy requirements). (If you have no booster packs, this attack does nothing. Courtney's depiction in ORAS/Generations make her seem insane, so I've designed this card to bend and ignore the rules of the game, much like cards from MTG's "Un" sets. Eruption's 8.75 damage allows a full field to deal up to 35 damage per turn, giving it 2RKOs on single-prize support Pokémon like Jirachi and Zigzagoon. The attacks are all powered by Welder + attach. Fate Flip offers counterplay by allowing the opponent to spread out their cards or stack cards from their hand around their Active Pokémon to protect it, while providing a skill based attack to remove key threats.
Archie is designed to be used for and against mill, preventing recycling of cards by sending them to the Lost Zone. In exchange, the second half of the effect prevents the opponent from decking out that turn and gives them the opportunity to save one milled card. This card is inspired by the theft of the submarine.
Meteor energy is based on the teams' plot involving using a Meteorite from Meteor Falls on Mt. Chimney. In ORAS, obtaining the Devon Scope changes the description of the Meteorite, so I've included Kecleon, which gets revealed by the Devon Scope.

COMMENTS
While admittedly not directly based on Team Aqua, these cards are based on Guile Hideout in the Pokemon Adventure's manga, who (10 year old spoilers incoming) actually is the slowly decaying Archie (because of being possessed by Kyogre). After defeating Maxie in battle, Archie is given the time-slowing armor Eternity and the attack-reflecting sword Instant. Eternity Armor is a tool that aims to capture Eternity's life-prolonging power by stopping Special Conditions, the placement of damage counters, and a small bit of extra HP. Instant Energy allows any Pokemon to copy another Pokemon's attacks, but balanced so its not totally eclipsing Pokemon like Ninetales V.
Surskit & Jirachi GX represent Guile Hideout's Pokemon. In the manga, Guile Hideout uses his main Pokemon Surskit to force open Jirachi's third eye so he can have his wish granted. Forced Wish has a costly effect and on a low HP 3-prizer in exchange for VS Seeker as a bench Ability. However, its synergy with Archie's Ace in the Hole and similar is obvious. Archie's wish creates a Kyogre-shaped water monster which Guile calls the Sea Demon. To represent it, the GX attack does a lot of damage and if Archie's was played, spreads damage to the opponent's bench like a giant wave of water. Finally, Guile Hideout uses a lot of star-shaped Pokemon: Surskit, Jirachi and 4 Starmie. They often help Guile make daring moves and escapes, so a Rocket Splash effect would represent it well.

COMMENTS
These cards are designed to reward playing with lots of Team Magma cards in the deck. The Energy is designed with no new multi-prize Team Magma Pokémon in mind, and provides a powerful Energy/Tool combo. The Pokémon may be a bit over-tuned, but I think it is necessary for it to be competitive against multi-prize Pokémon. Groudon can one-shot every basic V (except Steelix and Wailord), and has type advantage against Dark and Lightning decks. When used in combination with the Red Orb, it can one-shot any Tag Team without other HP modifiers. Red Orb can also be used to make other less viable attackers more useful. The one-use effect on both the attack and the Tool make it more important to decide when to use the effects. All of these cards are designed with a Team Aqua counterpart with a similar effect in mind.

COMMENTS
My thoughts for these cards were to highlight what made Team Aqua memorable, all the time spent trying to get inside their secret base. The best way I thought to do this in the TCG was stall. The Wailmer's have no offensive capabilities but, are mostly there to buy time if set up. If all things work properly you can get 16 cards of your choice from your deck with the wailmer's attacks.

COMMENTS
I always liked the negative Tool design and I'm sad TCPi never revisited this mechanic.
Mechanically all this allows for underrepresented Water attackers to shine - Articuno Ancient Trait and Inteleon VMAX in particular. The "in addition" clause allows for dual types - like Volcanion-EX - to hit for 4x weakness as well. It will allow for the rare one hit KO in unique situations.
In the Pokemon Adventures manga, Archie is the head of Hoenn TV. Says he covered up activities, but I think it could be propaganda too. I would like to think they could have developed a hologram technology. I envision this tool as a pin that emits a holographic A symbol.
I wanted to poke fun at long names with the Pokemon. I wanted them to feel bulky and hard hitting like in the games.
Teams are generally causing mayhem in the Pokemon world, so those who seek order will probably oppose them. Trainers themselves are usually depicted in Supporter cards, so that represents fighting against the ideals.
