COMMENTS
The attacks and abilities all come from things Raichu can have in the main games. Speed in the main game is interpreted as retreat cost in the TCG this card's attacks relate to retreat costs because Alolan Raichu is incredibly fast.
Electro Web is learned by Raichu via TM and it lowers speed, so it raises retreat cost.
Electro Ball deals damage based on how slow the opponent is, so here it has the effect of Milotic's Aqua Impact, but stronger because this is the card's gimmick and lightning has less support so this allows both cards to be playable.

Raichu's Nasty Plot
TRAINER / Supporter
This turn, the attacks of your Pokémon with "Raichu" in their name deal 100 more damage. If your opponent's Active Pokémon has any [W] or [C] energy attached, your Pokémon with "Raichu" in their name may target an opponent's Benched Pokémon with their attack this turn. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon. You cannot apply status effects, such as Paralysis, to Benched Pokémon.) COMMENTS
This Raichu is the long lost coach of Surfing and Flying Pikachu around the world. Now older, it aims to help other Raichu in their battles. The restriction and bench snipe are inspired by "Swim" from Golduck TEU. [W] is for Surf, and [C] is for Fly. +100 damage leaves RaiRai GX 10 short of OHKOing bulky Tag Teams like Mew3 and Reshizard with Tandem Shock. The increase in damage compared to Leon is justified by the incredibly narrow scope of "Raichu" cards. |

This Raichu V parallels the promo Pikachu V. Since Pikachu V stole Circle Circuit from Raichu, Raichu V steals Overspark from Pikachu-EX. Power Drain combines ideas from Raichu cards in the same expansion as Pikachu cards with Pika Ball. Never Give Up's Energy, Power Short's selection and Ability effect, and Boosted Voltage's bench damage.

Stage 1 / Lightning / 130 HP
Ability: Gathering of Watts Ignore all energy in the attack costs of each of your Pokémon that has the Electric Ball attack. [C][C][C] Tail Smash 90 Weakness: Fighting Resistance: -- Retreat Cost: 0 COMMENTS
This Raichu is similar to "Caturday" Persian! If cats can do it, mice should pull it off too, right? As a lightning boi, Raichu gathers watts, and empowers those with Electric Ball. That opens up a few interesting lines of play: go find them! Apart from the attack and weakness, this Raichu also shares the same free retreat as Persian's. It’s not something the recent Raichu have, but it’s an old thing I am happy to bring back. BREAKthrough's and Generations' thrown together form the flavour text: the lazy way for our lazy lad! |

I wanted to bring back the old style of Pokémon in which board state was more important than card advantage. The attack is a buffed Emerald Slash, which synergizes well with the ability which harkens Dusknoir Lvl. X, and strengthens board state while recycling the card. Note: 2 Prize Pokémon

[L] 1M Volt Thunderbolt 150 This attack cannot be used if this card was put into play through Evolution. You may also use this attack on your first turn if you go first. If you do, this attack's base power becomes 50. [L] Army of One During your next turn, you may place any number of Lt. Surge's Raichu from your hand directly onto your bench, ignoring the effects of any abilities. Weakness: Fighting Resistance: -- Retreat Cost: 0 |
COMMENTS
Lt. Surge's Raichu evolved extremely early, so it embodies the glass cannon archetype: hitting hard, hitting fast, but also very frail. Lt. Surge used only Raichu against Ash, and when Raichu was defeated, Ash won. I hope I did an adequate job incorporating all these features into this card, but I also wanted to make a card that would see plenty of play. Those hoping to grind out quick daily ladder wins have an incentive to run a deck centered around Lt. Surge's Raichu and Electropower.

COMMENTS
Overall: Raichu Vmax’s main line of play is to paralyze stall your opponent while you find energy for its attack. While its attack doesn’t do a ton upfront, the damage can quickly stack up.
Ability Circuit Shock: This ability is mainly inspired by the nature of Lightning type Pokémon; while they can inflict the special condition of paralysis, they also burn through their juice relatively fast.
G-Max Grand Chu Bolt: This attack is mainly inspired by the old Circle Circuit Raichu. This attack, however, does more damage for the number of Chu pokemon you have in play because Pikachus and Raichus and thought to live in larger communities.

[C] Forced Evolution For each of your Benched [L] Pokémon, search your deck for a card that evolves from that Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it. Then, shuffle your deck. The attacks of each Pokémon you evolved this way cost [C] more. [L][C] Power Surge 80x This attack does 80 damage for each Supporter card played from your hand during this turn. Weakness: Fighting Resistance: -- Retreat Cost: 2 COMMENTS
Forced Evolution is inspired by the anime episode Electric Shock Showdown, where Lt. Surge believed in evolving Pokemon quickly to make them stronger. But this comes at the expense of missing valuable experience, which is represented here by requiring extra energy on the attack costs. Good targets are Electrode (VIV) and Magneton (CEC) for their abilities, both of which can help set up optimal conditions for Raichu’s second attack. Power Surge is specifically designed to work in tandem with Lt. Surge’s Strategy in Standard & Magnezone with Dual Brains ability in Expanded. |
